He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Benson and Clara Holland; his sons, Tracy Benson and Jody Benson; and his siblings, Jim Benson, Bob Benson, Ed Benson, Wayne Benson, Charles Benson, Wilbur Benson, Christine Siebert, Elizabeth Benson and Emma Benson.
He is survived by: his wife Peggy Benson of Frenchburg, KY; his sons, Dwain Benson of Frenchburg, KY and Brian Benson (Debbie) of Frenchburg, KY; his daughter-in-law Lisa Benson of Frenchburg, KY; his sisters-in-law, Mary Hanna Benson of Frenchburg, KY and Pat Benson of Dayton, OH; and his grandchildren, Courtney Moore (Tyler) and Whitney Burlinger (Javin). He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
