He was predeceased by: his parents, Odean Prater and Corine Ross Prater; his wife Susan Hughes Prater; his grandparents, Corbett, Carmie Ross, Oda and Beulah Prater; his sons, Ricky Prater Jr. (Dino) and Darren Prater (Scotty); and his siblings, Connie Young and Curtis Prater.
He is survived by: the mother of his children Serina Louise King; his children, Lisa Self (Johnny), Serina Halsey (Alan), Stacy Prater and Steve Prater (Carrie); his stepchildren, Angela Johnson and Junior Roe; his siblings, Libby Jones (David), Cindy Barnett (Walter), Rose Stone (Mike), Ginger Cockerham (Earl), Mary Prater, Danny Prater, Paul Prater, Terry Prater and Johnathan Prater; and his friend Cassie. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren.
