He was predeceased by: his parents, Ira Sr. Mapes and Ada Mapes (Blankenship); his brothers, Ira Mapes, Jr. and Danny Mapes; his nephew Delaney Mapes; and his siblings-in-law, Curtis Harris and Linda Kay Mapes.
He is survived by: his children, Kevin Mapes and Heather Fields (Joseph); his siblings, Randy Mapes, Robert Mapes (Rose), Bonnie Harris, Susie Grossl (Ron), Kaye Hurley (Benny), Penny Hager (Gary) and Ellen Charles (Jimmy); his sister-in-law Judy Mapes; his grandchildren, Cayden, Holden Fields and Cory Galloway (Brianna Preston); and his close friends, Don Wolford and Orville Wolford. He is also survived by nieces, nephews.
