She was predeceased by: her spouse Leon "Pete" Thurmond; her siblings, Thomas Ryan Moody, Billy Moody, Mary Louise Johns and Sara Gordon Freeland; and her nieces, Brenda and Jackie Freeland.
She is survived by: her children, Marsha Bess Spears (Jim) of Franklin, KY and Tom Kelly Thurmond (Martha) of Franklin, KY; and her grandchildren, Kelly Thurmond Oldham (Robert), Sam Thurmond, Cindy Hodges (Steve), Tracy Watts (Mark), Jamie Spears (Ann) and Shannon Spears (Amanda). She is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
