She was predeceased by: her parents, Albert Stringer and Velma Caldwell Stringer; her husband Hubert Smalling; her daughter Sherry Adams-Blair; and her siblings, Nina Hall, Ottie Hall and Clifford Stringer.

She is survived by: her son Robert Adams (Lee); her grandson Nathan Adams (Clarisa); her great grandchildren, Nicholas, Irelynn, Ezmy and Banks Adams; her brother George Stringer (Floy); and her sister-in-law Dorris Stringer.
