He was predeceased by: his son Alex Smith; his father Jimmy Gilmer; and his brothers, Terry Smith and Tim Gilmer. He is survived by: his son Scott Smith (Amber) of Auburn, KY; his granddaughters, Chloe Biggs, Della Smith and Elsie Smith; his mother Patricia Hughes Gilmer of Franklin, KY; his sister Alicia Gilmer of Franklin, KY; and his close friend Anita Payne Smith of Franklin, KY. He is also survived by several nephews; and one niece.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 15th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, November 16th 2024 from 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Gilbert Funeral Home (325 W Cedar St, Franklin, KY 42134). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 16th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, November 16th 2024 at the Greenlawn Cemetery (420 Cemetery St, Franklin, KY 42134).
