Ellis Ray Carter Obituary
We are sad to announce that on September 26, 2023 we had to say goodbye to Ellis Ray Carter of Frankfort, Kentucky. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his siblings, Martha Carter VanMeter and Fred Carter; and his parents, Alfred Walker Carter and Susan May Crabb Carter. He is survived by: his children, Gwen Carter Cobb (Rick), E. R. "Chip" Carter II and Kristi K. Carter; his great grandchildren, Brayden, Dylan, Gavin, Marek, Ryan, Silas and Eli; his sister Eula Mae Carter Jarrett; and his siblings-in-law, Kathy Tandy Ammerman, Edith Wilson Tandy, Alma Barrick Carter and Howard VanMeter. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He also still subscribed to the Lexington Herald Leader which he had delivered on a paper route for $1. 10 a week while he attended school in Lexington in the late 1930's and early 1940's. In the last several years he survived the isolation of the Covid pandemic, a house fire, a tornado, and arguments with his children with the same good-natured resilience.
Flowers are welcome, or donations may be made to the Salato Center at the Game Farm (https://kentuckywildlife.com) or the charity of one's choice.
