He was predeceased by: his siblings, Sidney Hirt, Dorothy, Daniel Hirt, Bernard Hirt, Marcie Batla and Jeanette Kohutek.
He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Hirt; his children, Roxanne Fricker (Bryon), Duane Hirt (Marianne) and Cecelia Matthews (David); his grandchildren, Shane Orr (Teresa), Robert Orr, Shelby Yarborough (Micah), Colby Hirt (Britni), Erin Callan (Chris), Tyler Matthews, Cassie Hirt and Sarah Matthews; his sister Annette Frerich; and his parents-in-law, Delmer Batla, Elsie Hirt and Lucille Halfmann.
In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Permian Basin Honor Flight or to the donor's favorite charity in Eugene's memory.
