He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Brinkman and Rosina Brinkman (Steenke); his son Nicholas Brinkman; and his siblings, Rosemary Rudebush and Edward Brinkman.

He is survived by: his wife Rebecca Brinkman (Slater); his granddaughter Kyla Brinkman; and his friend Jim Hyland. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
