He was predeceased by: his parents, John Purvis and Clara Staton Purvis; his siblings, Jack Purvis and Madge Purvis Norris; and his nephew Roy Nelson Purvis.
He is survived by: his wife Faye Pelfrey Purvis; his sons, Barry Purvis (Brenda Lamkin) and Phillip Purvis (Debbie); his grandchildren, Mackenzie Purvis, Matthew Purvis, Madison Purvis and Ethan Purvis; his niece Marian Lee Sterling; and his nephews, Jackie Purvis and Richard L. Purvis.
