He was predeceased by: his parents, Shelton, Sr. Chaffins and Louise Chaffins (Morgan); his son-in-law Gary Carrico; his sister-in-law Penny Chaffins; and his sister Linda Chaffins Mulkey.
He is survived by: his children, Shelley Carrico of Kitts Hill and Shelton "Joe" Chaffins, III (Flora) of West Point, Georgia.; his grandchildren, Garrett Carrico of Kitts Hill, Reid Carrico of Kitts Hill and Samantha Chaffins of West Point, Georgia; his siblings, Barbara Toney (Paul), Bob Chaffins (Linda), Raymond Chaffins and Keith Chaffins; and his caregiver Sheila Hensley.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home (518 S 6th St, Ironton, OH 45638).
