He was predeceased by: his mother Mary Riley Ross; his brother Timothy "Birddog" Ross; and his father D. Andrew Canon Garner. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Morrison Ross of Flatwoods; his children, Abigail K. Barnes (Matthew) of Nicholasville, Ronald N. Ross, Jr. (Charlene) of Brooksville, FL, Patrick C. Ross (Angela) of Proctorsville and Ian T. Simpson of Brooklyn; his siblings, David M. Ross (Mary) of Barboursville, WV, Phillip "Shorty" Johnson (Angie) of Barboursville, WV and Janet Johnson Smith of Harpers Ferry, WV; and his grandchildren, Christopher, Cynthia, Connor Ross and Penelope Barnes. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, Ashland, KY or Father Beiting's Appalachian Mission Center in Louisa, KY or the charity of your choice.
