She was predeceased by: her parents, George Henry Rice and Martha Mae Smith Rice; her husband William "Bill" Proctor Short; her children, William Perry Short and Melessa Marlene Short; and her sister Kathleen Barnes.
She is survived by: her daughters, Vanessa Coleman (Gilbert) of Ashland, KY, Martha Barker (Dudley) of Raceland, KY and Reba Kay Nolan of Ashland, KY; her daughter-in-law Arlene Short of Raceland, KY; her grandchildren, Stephanie Hicks (Seth), Mandy Hughes (Paul), Bettina Grubb (David), Samantha Kazee (Josh), William Ashley Short (Gretchen), James Anderson (Kelli), David Nolan (Marandy), Amber Daniels (Lonnie) and Anna Barker; and her sisters, Lucille Greene of Flatwoods, KY, Valda Mayo of Flatwoods, KY, Louella Adkins (Jim) of Columbus, OH, Emily Lewis (Jim) of Flatwoods, KY and Joyce Ann Crisp (Larry) of Ashland, KY. She is also survived by twenty-five great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren.
