He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis Mays and Bess Sexton Mays; his wife Virginia "Jenny" Mays; his sons, Devon Mays and Steven Mays; his grandson Steve Mays; his son-in-law Bill Dalton; his stepsons, David Kersey, Roger Kersey and Greg Kersey; and his sister Judy Willis.
He is survived by: his children, Rick Mays (Debbie) of Ashland, Doug Mays (Kathy) of Ashland, Jeff Kersey (Karen) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Vicky Dalton of Ashland and Belinda Shelton (Charlie) of Ashland; his stepdaughters, Sue Lyons (Steve) of Grayson and Diana Hart of Lexington; and his siblings, Estell Mays (Karen) of Coalgrove, OH, Allen Mays of Coalgrove, OH, David Mays of Burlington, OH and Ruth Geraldine Allen of South Point, OH. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
