He is survived by: his wife Jodi Suzanne Stevens Bates; his daughters, Courtney Greathouse (Jon) of Wurtland and Morgan Brittany Law of Russell; his brothers, James Bates (Linda) of Ashland, Paul Bates (Treva) of Danleyton, Michael Bates (Carol) of Flatwoods, Mark Bates (Johnda) of Greenup and Bill Deering of Anahuac; his grandchildren, Jarrott Greathouse, Tyson Law, Myka Greathouse, Jaxon Law and Krymson Law; and his parents-in-law, Connie, Bob Young of Ashland, Kentucky and Steve Stevens of Alabama. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, family and friends.
