It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Edsel Eugene Rice of Flatwoods, Kentucky, born in Wittensville, Kentucky, who passed away on September 5, 2023, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, William McKinley and Clara Williams Rice; his wife Oralene "Bobbie" Greene Rice; his son Danny Eugene Rice; his grandson Andrew Rice; and his siblings, Alois Rice, Ronald Rice and Marjorie Williams.
He is survived by: his daughter Kathy Rice-McKnight of Lexington, KY; his grandchildren, Nicole, Key of Lexington, KY, Lieutenant Colonel Jason Abbott (Tiffany) of Pinehurst, NC, Dustin McKnight (Ashley) of Broomfield, CO and Nicholas Combs of Murfreesboro, TN; his great grandchildren, Devon, Dane, Leilani, Isabella, Adeline, Gunnar, Emerson, Karina and Evelyn; his great great grandchild Drace; and his siblings, Harold Rice of Etowah, NC and Floress Ann Collins of Huntington, WV. He is also survived by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren.
