He was predeceased by: his father Therman Gillum; his wife Janet Gillum; his great grandchild Adam Keith Gumbert; and his brothers, Dewy, Elwood, Leonard, Charles, Leroy and Newton Gillum.
He is survived by: his children, Elaine Gillum (Paul Martin) and Johnathan Gillum (Holly Coffee); his grandchildren, Marva Maynard, Adam Gumbert, Johnathan Gillum Jr. and Michael Gillum; and his sister Charlotte Leadingham. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
