He is survived by: his wife Eva Slayton of Flaherty, KY; his children, Amanda Dieruf (Eddie), Stephanie Mink (Lewis) and William Gerald "Trae" Slayton, III; his mother Jean Slayton; his sisters, Robin Wilson (Allyen) and Kim Dunn (Jimmy); and his grandsons, Ryan, Ethan Lasley, Dylan and Logan Mink. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
