He is survived by: his spouse Mary Ann Ferriell Whelan of Flaherty; his children, David Whelan (Sonnie), Doug Whelan (Beth), Lucina Kessler (Barry), Eddie Whelan (Kim) and Kevin Whelan (Nicole); and his brothers, Freddy Whelan, Lee Whelan and Ken Whelan. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren.
