He is survived by: his wife Mary; and his children, Joseph Johnson, Jr. (Sherry), Brenda Johnson, Jeannie Richerson, Karen Snow and Anita Mathis (Glenn). He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren; and more friends.
