He was predeceased by: his parents, Hershel Newnum and Frieda Adams Newnum; and his son John, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Mary Jane Adams; his stepchildren, Diane Rihn, Rebecca Woodrow and Robert Cravens; his grandchildren, Charlotte, Meredith, Whitney, Mark and Connor; and his siblings, Harold, Jackie, Stevie, Paul David and Patricia Bunger.
