He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Ellis and Geneva Gertrude Frye Ellis; his wife Aldean Sullivan Ellis; and his sister Mildred Wiggington. He is survived by: his sister Margaret Bland (Joe) of Nancy; his aunt Christine Frye of Somerset; and his sister-in-law Josie Hunton of Alabama. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
