He was predeceased by: his former wife Judy Mangrum Newsome; his son Ted Newsome; and his parents, Onyx Newsome and Obera Watkins Newsome. He is survived by: his wife Zenette Smith Newsome; his sons, Barry Newsome (Connie) of Farmington, KY, Greg Smith (Gina) of Mayfield, KY, Stacey Smith (Pam) of Kirksey, KY, Chett Smith (John) of Mayfield, KY, Todd Smith (Ronnica) of Mayfield, KY and Reece Smith (Laresa) of Guntersville, AL; and his sisters, Mella McBee of Sedalia, KY, Joetta Carroll of Farmington, KY and Joy Watson (Gary) of Mayfield, KY. He is also survived by grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
