He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Ruth Elder; his son Bart Elder; his parents, Ross Elder and Christine Elder; and his brothers, George Elder and Wayne Elder.
He is survived by: his children, Helen Elliott (Andy) and Edward Elder (Carol) of Fancy Farm; his grandchildren, Amy Vaughn (Sean), Mary Wilson (Adam), Callie Druary (Jeremy), Jacob Elder (Alison), Cody Elder (Steffanie), Nathaniel Elder (Asope), Corey Elder and Faith Elder; and his siblings, Randall Elder, Leon Elder (Vickie) of Fancy Farm, KY and Linda Farris of Mayfield, KY.. He is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren.
