He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Rice and Dora Begley Rice; his granddaughter Stella Rice; and his siblings, Celia Rice, Vonnie Herringer, Cindy LeMaster, A. C. and Leon Rice.

He is survived by: his children, Gary Rice II (Maria), Alan Rice (Mary), Jeremy Rice (Krysti) and Alma Monyei (Junior); and his siblings, Donald, Preston, Johnny, Kenny Rice, Sandy Ashworth, Sharon Kurtz and Jeannie Hubbard. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Stella Rice Memorial Scholarship c/o the Spanish Club 2359 US-27, Falmouth, KY 41040.
