He was predeceased by: his father Rudolph Herdt; and his sister Sandra Potter. He is survived by: his siblings, Paulette Miller and William Herdt (Mattie); his nieces and nephews, Michele Brooks, Cindi Huff (Gordon), Melissa Ballenger (Marty), Tammy Coulter, Paula Herdt, Billy Herdt, Patrick Miller (Marcia), Lynn Miller (Andrea) and Michael Potter; and his close friends, Phil Kane, Mark and Cheryl Shields.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made out to Crusades for Children.
