He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Melton and Della Viola Napier Smith; and his brother Johnny Melton. He is survived by: his brother Robert Melton; his aunt Vikki Farley; and his cousins, Tonda Dean, Verda, Robin Napier and Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made toward his funeral.
