He was predeceased by: his parents, William Childers and Nora Carter Napier; his son Danny Childers; and his siblings, Carl Childers, Inez Whitehead and Mardella Huff.
He is survived by: his wife Joanna Smith Childers; his stepdaughters, Sharla Wells (David) and Melanie Massingill of Clinton, TN; his siblings, Bonnie Clarkston (Estil) and Denver Napier (Sheryl); and his niece Debra Petry. He is also survived by five grandchildren; one great-grandson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
