He was predeceased by: his father Harry Banta; and his brother Fred. He is survived by: his sister-in-law Sandy Banta; his niece Jennifer Hedger (Steve); his nephew Jim Banta (Emily); his great-nieces, Paige and Grace Hedger; and his great-nephew Tanner Banta.
