He was predeceased by: his parents, John Henry and Beulah Jane Patterson (Napier); and his siblings, Roy Delmas Patterson, Jim Patterson, Bill Ed Patterson, Charles Patterson and Lois Ledford.

He is survived by: his sons, John Thomas Patterson of Eminence and Bryan Patterson of Eminence; his sisters, Cora Pat Howard of Pineville, Rose Adams of Smithfield, Velma Miracle of Pineville, Beverly Rose of Frankfort and Nancy Acree of LaGrange; and his grandchildren, Bayleigh Patterson, Hannah Parrish, Brennan Patterson, Reagan Parrish, Gavin Parrish, Emmett Patterson, Audrey Woods and Mason Woods.
