He was predeceased by: his parents, Carol R. Grote and Donald A. Grote; and his siblings, Sharon Grote, Scott and Mike Grote.

He is survived by: his sisters, Sue Boles, Sandy Hunt and Robin Haines. He is also survived by 2 children and a stepchild, numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
