He was predeceased by: his parents, John Shumate, Sr. and Beulah Harris Shumate; his wife Rebecca Shumate; his great grandchild Easton Wade Griffin; and his brothers, John Shumate, Jr. of Elkton and Clyde Shumate of Paso Robles.
He is survived by: his children, Ricky Shumate of Elkton and Vicki Wolfenbarger (Jim) of Elkton. He is also survived by four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
