He was predeceased by: his parents, Fletcher Cleveland and Helen Marie Rader Beard; and his siblings, Clarence, William, James Beard, Catherine Myers, Mary Pope and Susan Brawner.

He is survived by: his wife Connie Langley Beard; his children, Kenny Beard (Lara), Timmy Beard (Marie), Travis Beard (Becky), Robert Caswell (Brittney), Shawunta Wood (Jason) and Jennifer Nunn (Mike); and his siblings, Fletcher Houston Beard and Dorothy Allen. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
