He was predeceased by: his parents, Leroy Thompson Sr. and Pearlie Mae Harris Thompson; his wife Betty Thompson; his son Eric Thompson; his sons-in-law, Phillip Shanklin and Alonza Benjamin; his siblings, Leroy Thompson Jr., Mildred Dixon and Altee Carlisle; and his former wife Gerlieve Thompson.
He is survived by: his children, Ray Thompson Jr., Terry Benjamin, Brenda Thompson, Veverly Shanklin (Glen) and Gwendolyn Brashear (Tim); his stepchildren, Deidra Franklin and Eric Oliver; his grandchildren, Chaunda Thompson, Amber Benjamin, Antoin Thompson (Joanna), Ra'Jean Thompson, Austin Franklin, Joel Oliver, Jay Brashear (Kelly), Jordan Wells (Jacob) and Aisha Shanklin; his great grandchildren, Parrish, Jonathan, Christopher, Miloh, Nevaeh and Bentlee; and his brother-in-law Henry Carlisle. He is also survived by nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 1st 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Percell and Sons Funeral Home (120 Haycraft St, Elizabethtown, KY 42701). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 2nd 2024 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church (107 Bishop Ln, Elizabethtown, KY 42701).
