He is survived by: his parents, James Sutherland (Denise) and Cynthia Sutherland (Keilman); his husband Timmy Russell; his brothers, Brad Sutherland (Lisa), Joseph Sutherland and Eric Sutherland; his stepsiblings, Zach Goodwin, Mike Lopez, Mark Lopez and Marie Goodwin; his parents-in-law, Elizabeth Russell and Timothy Russell, Sr. (Brenda); his nephew Bryton Sutherland; and his godson Patrick Jegier.

The family requests that contributions in Michael's memory be made to Kentuckiana Pug Rescue.
