He is survived by: his parents, Horace Hughes (Ursula) and Sieglinde Schneck Hertenberger (Klaus); his wife Marion Hughes of Elizabethtown; his sons, Jason Hughes of Elizabethtown, Justin Hughes of Elizabethtown and Joshua Hughes of Elizabethtown; and his siblings, Harry Hughes (Sarah) of Wisconsin, David Hughes (Kriss) of Indiana, Rick Hertenberger (Beverly) of Georgia and Diane Titchenell (Judy) of Indiana.
