He was predeceased by: his son Tony Epps; his parents, Sam Montgomery and Regina Montgomery; his brothers, Sammy, James "Tom Dolley" and Harry Montgomery; and his close friend Lillie Barnett.

He is survived by: his siblings, Melvin Montgomery (Connie), Jeff Montgomery (Emma), Phyllis Mitchell (David), Paula Montgomery and Elder Bonita Montgomery-Robinson. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
