He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Goins and Mary Meredith Goins; his wife Jean; and his sons, Kevin and Jerry Goins.

He is survived by: his son Larry Goins; his grandchildren, Kevin, Brittany, Tommy, Andrew, Justin and Nathan; and his brother Leonard Goins (Audrey). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
