He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Thomas and Jessie Mildred McCoy Gerkins; his siblings, Howard, Edward, Norman Gerkins, Wanda Halsey, Thelma Henry, Ruth Thacker and Barbara Medley; and his daughter-in-law Rebecca Gerkins.
He is survived by: his wife Patsy A. Gerkins of Ekron; his sons, William Douglas Gerkins of Ekron, Jeffrey Scott Gerkins (Trish) of Knoxville, TN and Kyle Gene Gerkins (Sheila) of Bowling Green, KY; and his grandchildren, Lauren, Jenny, Sarah, Grace, Claire, Ben, Haley and Nick.
He was also recognized by the American Red Cross for his many blood donations over the years.
