It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Stanley Medford Syra of Edmonton, Kentucky, who passed away on January 8, 2024, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis Henry and Montie Zoie Syra (Young); his wife Mattie Lourene Syra (Garrett); his son-in-law Wendell Shaw; his sisters, Lovie Judd (Cecil), Louise Garmon (Rufus), Mable Ruth Hurt (Norvin), Yocca Syra, Etherage Syra and Frances Josephine Syra; his brother-in-law Leslie Humes; and his great grandchild Dustin.
He is survived by: his daughters, Barbara Shaw and Judith Reece (Jimmy); his grandchildren, Julie Harper (Marty), Amy Irwin (Mike), Jared Shaw (Hannah), Andy Shaw (Heather), James Reece (Lori), Stanton Reece (Cindy) and Stephen Reece (Tonya); and his nieces and nephews, Margaret Williams, Jean Coomer, Penny Young, Gail Hurt and Johnny Humes. He is also survived by 21 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren.
