He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Schmidt and May Schmidt; and his brother Dr. Rod Schmidt. He is survived by: his wife Sue; his children, Gary Schmidt, Mike Garrett (Robin) and Jamie Howard (David); his grandchildren, Derek Schmidt, Brock Garrett, Savanah Garrett, Drew Howard and Carlie Howard; and his sister Sandra Schmidt. He is also survived by several great grandchildren.
