He is survived by: his children, Jackie Mayes (Clyde) of Eddyville and Dr. Scott Gilson (Sharon) of Glasgow; his grandchildren, John Mayes (Venty), Lena Ward (Brian), Emma Mayes, Katie Gilson Shepard (Van), Dr. Emily Gilson Knight (Tyler) and Ian Gilson (Samantha); and his great grandchildren, Jonathan, Martin, Hedy, Fran Mayes, Adalin, Wyatt, Ashlyn Ward, Emerson, Elaina Shephard and Hadley Knight.
