He was predeceased by: his parents, Huey Owen and Castella Babb McDowell; and his siblings, Velda King, Jewell Dulaney, Huey McDowell, Larry McDowell and Charles McDowell.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Ortt McDowell; his children, Teresa Hastings (Kenneth) of Eddyville, KY and Huey McDowell (Pattie) of Eddyville, KY; his grandchildren, Jamie Hastings (Nicole) and Chris Hastings (Kamisha); his stepgrandson Brady Oliver (Joy); and his great grandchildren, Gunner, Kenzley, Hailey Hastings, Levon and Izzy Oliver. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
