He was predeceased by: his parents, Sullivan Smith and Lucy Spradlin Smith; his wife Evelyn Morgan Smith; his son David Lee Smith (Carol) of Alabama; and his siblings, James Smith, Rachel Slaven and Deanie Phillips.
He is survived by: his daughters, Mary Jane Hatfield (Mark) of Liberty, Glenda Bottoms of Liberty, Deborah Swinney of Windsor and Debbie Mordecai of Alabama; and his siblings, Carl Smith, Rex Allen Smith and Virginia Rushing. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
