He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Ammerman and Viola Wilson Ammerman; his wife Ann Cummins Ammerman; and his siblings, Henry Ammerman, Buddy Ammerman, Lillian Hart and Kathryn Moore.

He is survived by: his children, Gil Ammerman (Cindy), Steve Ammerman (Tammy) and Gay Napier (Barry); his brothers, Robert "Bob" Ammerman and Terry Ammerman; and his grandchildren, Heather Mann (Stephen), Wade Napier (Kelly), Brentany Slaton (Damon), Stephanie Stout (Kyle) and Mallory Brewer (Joby). He is also survived by 11 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Gideon's International and Short Creek Baptist Church.
