He was predeceased by: his parents, Ellis Carnes and Ethel Carnes; his wife Amalia Carnes; his brother Willie Royce Carnes; and his brother-in-law Clay Harmon.
He is survived by: his son Ellis J. Carnes (Teresa) of Barbourville; his sister Deanna Harmon of Berea; his stepchildren, Michael Carnes of Alpine, Johnny Carnes (Gwen) of Corbin and Dorothy Carnes of Alpine; his grandchildren, Presley Carnes (Richard) and Curtis James Carnes; his stepgrandchildren, Christopher Carnes (Melissa), Jessica Frick (Josh), Nathan Carnes, Melora Carnes, David Withrow and Amber Withrow; his great grandchildren, Bailee, Reign and Zayne Branstutter; his nephew John Kennedy (Amy); and his daughters, MaKayla, Taylar and Mya Frick. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and special friends.
