He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Sturgill and Helen Shepherd Sturgill; his son Charles Edward "Poke" Sturgill; and his siblings, Rickey Sturgill, Phyllis Brown, Helen Tootsie Sturgill, Dorothy Baker and Shirley Duty.
He is survived by: his son Billy Sturgill of Knott County; his stepchildren, Thomas Helton of Johnson City, Tennessee and Allison Helton of Deane; and his siblings, Joel Sturgill, Wade Sturgill, Billy Ray Sturgill, Betty Gross, Peggy Davidson and Nancy Halcomb.
Private Services will be held due to COVID-19 Restrictions.
