He was predeceased by: his parents, William Henry Short and Irene Pharris Short; and his brothers, William "Billy" Kenneth Short, Richard Edwin Short and Timothy Garth Short.
He is survived by: his brothers, James Walter Short and Gary "Nick" Short; his sons, Matthew Allen Short and William Wesley Short; his daughters-in-law, Crystal Short and Audrey Short; his grandchildren, Matthew Allen Short II, Adeline GraceShort and Laine Elizabeth Short; and his stepgrandchild Aubrey Paige Burns.
