He was predeceased by: his parents, Alex Jefferson and Darlis Hester McAlister; his wife Kay Bratcher McCallister; his son Jimmy McCallister; and his brothers, Joe Carroll McAlister and Jackie McAlister.

He is survived by: his son Jeffery McCallister of Paducah; his brother Charles McAlister of Princeton; and his grandchildren, Brandy Golding, Chris, Jessica and Jarrett McCallister. He is also survived by ten great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
