William Simpson Obituary
It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love and cherish. Family, friends and shipmates must say goodbye to their beloved William Simpson (Danville, Kentucky), born in La Junta, Colorado, who passed away at the age of 100, on August 3, 2023. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family. (Bill) retired from the United Stated Navy with the rank of full Captain after more than thirty (30) years honorable service, one of the dwindling few survivors from World War II, when he served in the Pacific and after the war, the Atlantic with the “Hurricane Hunters”. He finished his service in Washington D.C. with the Naval Material Command and then the U.S. Department of Transportation. Captain Simpson retired from the Navy in June 1975.
He lived with his wife, June, in Northern Virginia then they moved to a Retirement Village in Middletown, Kentucky. “Bill” passed in his sleep.
Thos who knew him always knew what to expect when his conversation began with, “did I ever tell you about that time I was in the Navy”?
He was predeceased by his parents, Ralph Simpson and Anna Simpson (Hunderman); his wife June McHan Simpson (McHan); his brother Robert Simpson; and his niece Susan DeChene (Simpson).
He is survived by his daughter Karen LeeAnn Rickmers (Simpson); his son-in-law Darell G.
